Acupuncture has been found especially effective for pain relief. Conditions treated range from migraine, and back pain, to nausea in pregnancy, complementary support for fertility, support for cancer patients and treatment for a range of autoimmune conditions.
It is a key part of the far eastern medical system of Chinese Medicine, which incorporates dietetics advice, herbal therapy and physical exercises (QiGong). It’s methods and teaching were systematically organised sometime between 2nd century BC and 2nd century AD and have been developed, researched and refined for over 2,000 years.
Treatment relies on stimulating acu-points, specific places on the body identified by Chinese medicine, using heat, needles, heat, acupressure and electroacupuncture.
Multi-bed Acupuncture
People choose to use Multi-Bed clinics because they make acupuncture treatment affordable, some also enjoy the community feel of the open plan setting and the ethos behind them. It’s a model of acupuncture authentic to China where more than one person is treated in the same room at the same time, cutting the cost of treatment.
In a Multi-Bed setting practitioners move from patient to patient giving treatment. Once needles are inserted patients relax while the acupuncturist treats the next person. The only difference between Multi-Bed and one to one treatment is that affordability is balanced against being treated in a public setting. The length of treatment is the same as it would be privately. Patient dignity is our priority and if you need to remove clothes you remain covered. A private room for a chat can be arranged if need arises. Our Multi-Bed room holds 3 treatment couches which are situated between long curtains to make them Covid-19 safe to provide maximum space for patients while being easily visible and accessible for the practitioners.
At Treat most of our treatments are in a Multi-Bed setting. The British Acupuncture Council (Acupuncture's regulatory body) recommend a minimum of 6-10 initial sessions for any condition and we know that regular treatment is more likely to yield positive outcomes for patients. The success and economy of Treat's Multi-Bed clinic in Norwich has made regular acupuncture treatment affordable for far more people.
Normally an initial session is private, allowing the Acupuncturist to make a full Chinese Medicine diagnosis and take a thorough history of your main complaint. This will enable our treatment to be more effective in the long term. There are some conditions that can suit our multi-bed sessions straightaway. At treat we also have a special interest in acupuncture for fertility and pregnancy. This is led by acupuncturist and treat's Director Rebecca Geanty who is very passionate about helping people in this field.

Treat’s founder and proprietor, Rebecca Geanty, is a registered traditional acupuncturist with a BSc (Hons) from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM). Rebecca has a special interest in women’s health, including fertility, menstrual challenges, pregnancy, postnatal care, perimenopause and menopause. She also welcomes men seeking acupuncture while trying to conceive or undergoing fertility treatment.
Rebecca has worked in fertility acupuncture since 2011, offering care to people trying to conceive naturally and those undergoing assisted fertility treatment, including IVF.
Rebecca is a patient-focused practitioner who takes time to listen and understand each person’s health history, circumstances and priorities. Together, they agree treatment goals and review their care as appointments progress. Rebecca loves what she does, and her warmth and enthusiasm come through in the care she offers.
In 2011, Rebecca established Norwich Acupuncture Rooms at The Orange Grove Clinic to make acupuncture more accessible and affordable to a wide range of people. Inspired by the shared treatment settings used in China, she developed a multi-bed clinic where patients could receive individual care at a lower cost, making regular appointments more affordable.
A year later, Rebecca also set up the Acupuncture Childbirth Team for East Anglia (ACT), a network for acupuncturists to share knowledge and learning about acupuncture during pregnancy and preparation for birth.
Rebecca founded Treat-Norwich in 2016 to make health and wellbeing services more accessible and help people improve their quality of life. She brought together a carefully selected team of qualified practitioners offering a wide choice of treatments, with an emphasis on listening, individual care and helping people find the right practitioner for their needs. Liz is a licensed acupuncture practitioner, gaining a BSc (Hons) Degree in Acupuncture from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) in Reading in 2019. She practices an integrated approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture. Liz specialises in treating children, holding a Diploma in Paediatric Acupuncture (2022). Liz is fully regulated and insured with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC)
Liz has a special interest in a variety of conditions, particularly post-operative pain, circulatory conditions, digestive complaints, headaches and migraines, menopause and menstrual health. Liz enjoys being able to offer multi-bed treatments to make frequent treatment more affordable to those who would otherwise be unable to access holistic healthcare.
Liz uses a combined approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Acupuncture. Classical Five Element acupuncture is based on the Five Elements of nature: fire, earth, metal, water and wood. Each of these five elements is within each of us and symptoms and diseases occur when these elements become unbalanced. Treatment using the Five Elements deals with the underlying causes of disease rather than just treating the symptoms. The aim of Five Element acupuncture is to bring each of the elements back into balance to prevent disease from reoccurring.
Liz believes a collaborated approach to care improves the health and wellbeing of individuals and so is always happy to speak with your other healthcare providers and work alongside them and with you reviewing treatment often to ensure your symptoms are improving and you have all the information available to you to take ownership of your health.
When Liz became a mother of two this sparked her interest in how acupuncture could help young people. Liz recently completed a Diploma in Paediatric Acupuncture and now specialises in the treatment of children and young people. Liz will treat babies from newborn and uses a very gentle approach and has many non-needle techniques to help restore balance in the body. This may include Tui-Na massage which can be taught to parents / carers to use at home and in-between treatments. A childs Qi is so vital that minimal intervention is needed. Usually only one or two needles may be used on very small children if at all. Smallstick-on seeds or tiny pyonex can be used instead if the child isn’t sure about having needles. Liz aims to make the child as comfortable and relaxed as possible, hoping that acupuncture is a time in the week the child looks forward to. There is a collection of toys and books in the treatment room and she is always happy to speak to the parent before the consultation to talk though any concerns, and anything that would be easier to discuss without the child present. Liz fully understands how much the wellbeing of a child can have an effect on the whole family.

Liz’s multibed appointments are limited and held for those that need help with the cost of treatment and are coming for regular treatments. Therefore, appointment costs that are claimed through insurance will need to be booked as private follow ups. Annie discovered a holistic approach to her body, mind and spirit through her own yoga practice, at the age of 17. Yoga introduced
her to the concept of ‘prana’ (primary energy in Sanskrit) this unravelled an intrigue to discover more about ancient eastern philosophy and medicine.
Whilst working on a yoga retreat in Portugal, she was introduced to Five Element Acupuncture. Fascinted by the concept of diagnosing and treating a person’s element – Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood. She needed to learn more, but it wasn’t until many years later that she has the opportunity to study this incredible form of medicine at The Acupuncture Academy in Leamington Spa.
Studying for her Licentiate for 4 years she feels she has opened a book that will never be closed. A world of endless intrigue, discovery and amazement at the power and depth of Classical Chinese Medicine.
In the clinic, Annie’s approach offers each patient a tailored diagnosis of their health needs. During a thorough initial consultation, Annie will diagnose your element and any imbalances in your body, mind and spirit through detailed questioning, physical palpation and pulse and tongue diagnosis. Annie uses very fine (0.18mm guage needles) and she will work with your breath when inserting the needles to enable a more relaxed and painless treatment. She will create a bespoke treatment plan, to suit your body’s needs and will discuss this with you.

Victoria’s path into acupuncture began with her own experiences of seeking more complete approaches to health and wellbeing. What started as a personal journey grew into years of study, travel, and a deep commitment to holistic medicine.
During her travels, she was inspired by traditional healing systems from around the world, but it was Chinese Medicine that particularly resonated with her. She was drawn to its view of the body as an interconnected whole, with energy (qi) moving through pathways that influence both physical and emotional health. This perspective continues to shape her practice today.
What Victoria values most in acupuncture is its ability to work with the whole person, encompassing body, mind, and spirit, rather than treating symptoms in isolation. She offers a calm and supportive space where every patient is heard, and each treatment is tailored to the individual.
Her special interest lies in women’s health, influenced by her own experiences with fertility. She has seen how acupuncture can play a decisive role in supporting menstrual health, hormonal balance, endometriosis, PCOS, and fertility journeys, whether natural or alongside IVF.
