Life coaching for stress management

While some stress can be helpful and motivating, long term stress can take its toll on our mental and physical health. Read Life Coach Cathy Eden’s blog post to discover how life coaching can be a powerful tool for reducing stress and improving overall wellbeing.

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is a process that helps people improve their quality of life by setting and working towards personal and professional goals. One of the significant benefits that can come from spending time with a coach is reducing stress levels.

As someone with lived experience of chronic stress and burnout, Treat's life coach Cathy Eden shares some ways in which life coaching can help when the going gets tough:

Identifying the root cause of stress
We’re often not fully aware of what contributes to feelings of stress and overwhelm, and because of this, we can continue to struggle with it.

Life coaches use techniques like questioning, reflective listening, and goal-setting to help people identify the root cause of their stress. Once the sources are understood, people can work on finding ways to manage or eliminate it.

Setting manageable goals
Coaches help people break down their goals into smaller, manageable steps. When people see progress towards their goals, they feel a sense of accomplishment, which can help reduce stress levels.

Developing coping strategies
Coaching can help people develop healthy coping strategies to manage more effectively when life is stressful. In turn, this can ultimately lead to an improved quality of life.

Building resilience
Resilience is the ability to adapt and cope with adversity. Life coaching can help people build resilience to help them better manage stress. Some ways to do this might include learning to practice self-care, manage time effectively, and developing positive habits.

Accountability and support
Life coaching can provide people with someone to hold them accountable for taking action and making progress towards their goals. Coaches are also well equipped to provide compassionate support and guidance when needed.
