Claire is a chartered physiotherapist trained in Pilates, which she uses for injury rehabilitation, sports performance and to help clients manage or overcome long term health problems such as arthritis or osteoporosis. Claire specialises in musculoskeletal physiotherapy addressing issues with muscles and joints such as back , shoulder or knee pain, sports or work related injuries. Claire also has experience in women's health and can help pregnant and postnatal clients to address muscle and joint pain, and issues such as diastasis recti (tummy gapping) or pelvic floor dysfunction.
Claire is a trained massage therapist providing Swedish, Sports pregnancy, oncology and “TMJD therapy” (for people with issues related to temporo-mandibular joint disorder) at treat Norwich. She is trained in dry needling and chinese cupping to provide further relief from muscular tension, acute or chronic pain
From her work, training and own experience Claire understands that it is often the quality, not the quantity of movement that determines health, fitness and sporting success. She was drawn to pilates because its principles of alignment, concentration and control emphasis standing, moving and exercising with correct technique. She incorporates these essential pilates techniques into her physiotherapy practice and adapts Pilates classes and sessions to individual needs, often using small equipment or supports to improve technique and make the exercises more effective. Claire teaches Pilates in 1:1 or small group sessions, and holds a weekly Thursday evening class on zoom.
Claire trained in physiotherapy at the University of East Anglia and previously trained in sports science at York st. John University. She has spent time working in health, well-being and recovery around the world, working in London, York and Melbourne in Australia. She returned to Norwich on a permanent basis in 2014 and has been part of the Treat team from day one, initially teaching weekly Pilates classes and individual sessions to individuals, small groups and local businesses in Norwich. She has continued to develop her skills, training to teach Pilates to people living with and recovering from cancer treatment, using exercise to overcome the effects of surgery and limit the impact of fatigue or medication on health and well-being.
