Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. A counsellor will not give you their opinions or advice or prescribe medication. They will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.
Beccy’s approach is centred around the quality of the relationship between the client and counsellor. If a person experiences an empathic relationship, where they are genuinely valued and viewed optimistically, they can flourish.
“We all struggle from time to time. We might be in distress, feel stuck or need support. I offer a warm, empathic and confidential space, to explore your feelings and talk about whatever difficulties you may be experiencing. We will work collaboratively, at your pace.
I believe that we all have within us the resources to grow and develop. Well-being occurs when a person can express their innate and unique potential - to be their true self.
Being heard, accepted and understood can be a powerful experience. This leads to a greater insight into thoughts and feelings, greater clarity, and greater self-acceptance, along with the confidence to change patterns of behaviour and to feel happier.
As a supervisor I offer supervisees the same conditions as in my counselling practice. The emphasis is on professional development through exploring the therapeutic process, looking with fresh eyes and curiosity, and working collaboratively so as to feel nourished by supervision.”
