Mother and Baby Yoga

These are Mother focused classes combining yoga with elements of pilates to safely get postnatal bodies moving, rebuilding strength from the inside out. The classes are run by experienced yoga instructors who are also qualified physios with an understanding of post natal recovery. 

Using movement and breath, the classes aim to strengthen and stabilise the pelvic region and core. Practice is specifically tailored to support reintegration and healing of postnatal bodies. It will also help you find space and freedom through the chest and upper back to help manage and ease tension that can form when holding, carrying and feeding babies.

Each week will offer a theme to encourage reflection, and engage with the mental and emotional as well as the physical elements of yoga and we will use affirmations to help connect with yourself and support your journey through motherhood.

Practice always closes with well deserved relaxation.

There will also be some baby yoga / baby massage to keep the little ones happy. You can feed, change and tend to your babies during class whenever he or she needs you.

Yoga offers a wealth of benefits for new mums, and these classes provide a friendly, welcoming environment to try it out. It's also a great opportunity to meet other new mums and build community. We have the studio space for a little while after class, and encourage you to stay and socialise if you wish.

Mums can join the classes as soon as they feel they are ready to do so following their 6 week midwife / doctors check up. You can continue until you baby starts to crawl.

Introducing Beth

Rosie is now on maternity leave and while she's away the class will be run by Treat's very own Beth Cullen. Beneath her calm efficient presence as one of Treat's receptionists Beth hides a deep secret. She is a fully qualified Physiotherapist, yoga and fitness instructor with a BSc (hons) , MSc Physiotherapy, and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists. She qualified as in 2013 and has worked in the NHS, NHS provider companies, government and private practice. Beth also has over 13 years experience teaching fitness, is a qualified personal trainer, a fitness guru and recently trained in pregnancy and postnatal yoga with the wonderful Sally Parkes Yoga. For the past year she's been part of the wellfitmumma team working as as a rehab physiotherapist, pregnancy yoga teacher and mum and baby yoga teacher. 

While Rosie is on maternity leave Beth will also cover pregnancy yoga 

Classes are usually in blocks of six on Monday mornings 10.30 -11.30 am

Rosie Taylor BSc (Hons) MSc. MCSP. AACP

Rosie is an experienced physiotherapist specialising in the care of musculoskeletal injuries, pre/post natal and children's physiotherapy. Rosie qualified from the University of East Anglia with an MSc in Physiotherapy in 2008. Since then, Rosie has gained a vast amount of physiotherapy experience having worked for Norfolk Community Trust in stroke rehab, community Physiotherapy, musculoskeletal physiotherapy & paediatric physiotherapy. Rosie progressed to a senior level quickly and worked in the acute setting at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for 5 years, specialising in orthopaedics, musculoskeletal physiotherapy & children's physiotherapy. Rosie has subsequently spent time working at a specialist unit for children under 5, at The Royal Free Hospital in London and now works at a specialist level at The East Anglia Children's Hospital 3 days per week. Rosie has in addition, experience of working in private practice and with elite sports teams and has a special interest in the management of musculoskeletal injuries in adults and children.

Rosie enjoys staying fit and active and has found yoga and pilates to be an excellent addition to her physiotherapy "toolbox". Applied clinically , combined with physiotherapy knowledge , yoga & Pilates can be extremely useful in treating and preventing and many types of injures. Rosie has trained with The Pilates Institute, APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) as well as having undertaken a 200 hour Yoga Alliance & 500hr Yoga Alliance certification courses. She is trained in both pre-natal and postnatal yoga & pilates and particularly enjoys working with women throughout pregnancy and postnatally.

Rosie has in addition, completed many post-graduate courses in physiotherapy such was Kinesiotaping, Manual therapy, Mulligans Techniques, Muscle Energy Techniques as well as Masters level courses in Acupuncture for Physiotherapists (University of Hertfordshire) and Advanced assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries (University of East Anglia).

Rosie also has a degree in Psychology which has influenced her physiotherapy care and takes into account the full person, life experiences and works in holistic manner to help you find the best way to manage your condition. Rosie is fully registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and the APCP (Association of Chartered Paediatric Physiotherapists).
